The Honorary Consul of Sierra Leone and the IOM representative supervise the evacuation of 200 migrants.

The Consul General of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mr. Mahfoudh Jiyed, accompanied by the chief of Mission of the United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mr. Boubacar Seybou, and a representative of the European Union, supervised the evacuation of more than 200 migrants to their country Sierra Leone, from Um Tounsy International Airport.

The evacuation process of these migrant families, in a situation of vulnerability and in need of assistance, continues for a week.

The United Nations Migration Organization (IOM), with the financial support of the European union, takes care of the planes for this evacuation.

Mauritania has more than 1,200 citizens of Sierra Leone, half of whom are students in Koranic schools and the rest are self-employed.

The consulate of honor of the Sierra Leone in Mauritania is always available, and wants to ensure the good conditions of the Sierra Leone community in the country.
